Visualize Your Way To A Healthy, Slimmer, You!

People, at this time of year, rush to gyms and to
shops buying the latest gadgets and memberships very often
only to give up weeks or months later.

I see this a lot in the fitness industry and I often
think about why this is. I believe one of the reasons is
people act on whims that often are not based upon real,
deeply held and thought about, feelings.

They do not take the time to habitually visualise the
new and improved version of themselves but instead
focus upon external things instead.

It takes an element of patience and skill and to
visualise what you really want to look like, to ‘weld’
it deeply into your mind, and then to act physically
upon these passionately held visions.

Having sat down each day for five to ten minutes to
soley focus on this new image of yourself means you
will be much more likely to develop an ardent desire
to achieve and maintain it.

We become what we habitually think about!

We become, physically, what we regularly see in our
minds eye.

Take the time to learn how to get into a meditative
state where you calmly focus on how you want to
look and you will be ahead of others who flippantly
disregard the big muscle between their ears that
allows one to visualise in the first place!

Visualisation is used by many, many, top sports
people now and is viewed as a vital element of success.
They see what they want each day and then go get it!

Yet, despite this being the case, many ‘normal’ people
trying to get in shape rarely seem to use this easily
accessible technique. Controlling what you see and think
is in easy grasp of everyone but so few actually take
advantage of this fact.

My advice is this.

Set aside time each day to control how you see yourself
and elevate this image to being more than you are now.

Set goals, see them, achieve them.

Have quiet time where you can meditate, if only for
five minutes, and build a POWERFUL image of a new you
in your mind.

Use your breath to ‘inflate’, and bring to life, this
image of how you wish to look physically.

You will then be primed to go about PASSIONATELY
achieving it!

What Everyone Ought to Know About Online Sport Bets

Bind together two of people’s most important pursuits and what you’ll reveal is a mania we commonly title a sportsbook betting site. Truly, what could ever be more ingenious… If you visualize a large assembly of sports fanatics cheering to support a preferred local sports heroes, and frequently wagers are guaranteed to be set accompanying the noise. So as to catch some of the action, spectators typically essay to presage who will prevail the approaching fight. Put together, this all develops into a fun little fight known as sportsbook betting site.

Think you know online sports gambling wager ? Prove it here and win big!

No doubt it is bound to appear habit forming, but sportsbook wagers is actually merely fun and to connect with your fellow sports enthusiasts. Here, you’ll be able to wager a a minute sum of chips and nonetheless enjoy yourself. Here’s a group of basic pieces of advice to get you started sportsbook wagers.

To wager, you will probably want to surf to a sportsbook betting site, which is a place that proffers sportsbook betting site. In the USA, you have no less than four states where people can do sportsbook wagers in a legit manner, but if you don’t care for legality, you may do it practically anywhere as long as you can hunt out a bookie and you happen to be of age. Covered sports competitions you can bet your money on are professional as well as college football and college basketball, pro baseball, pro hockey, as well as wagers on both horse and dog racing. Customers can bet on the overall results of a contest, at which point a given contestant will be knocked out, and even whether a tossed coin in a contest comes down heads or tails.

The sportsbook company put their face in statistical mathematics to help you out establish which sports heroes you believe will prevail. Primarily, there’s spread, i.e. point advantage pertaining to a inferior team presumed to lose by x number points. This is the bookmaker’s established methodology of organizing even antes for a Sports Book. To give an example, we can bet money on a club presumed to lose and and nonetheless win that wager as long as the team goes under by x number of points.

So, why don’t you just conduct some test runs, and enjoy the fun in tandem… Just make certain that you won’t get overpowered and squander your complete income capriciously. If not, you just might find yourself regretful for life.

Windmills of Time

Naturally, one must visit the windmills when in Amsterdam. Amsterdam is synonymous for its windmills, clogs, tulips, canals, cheese markets, practically everything that one would expect to find in a charming and utterly picturesque city. But, whatever image one associates with the city, the first thing likely to come to mind is the windmill (molen).

The importance of these windmills or the living monuments is such that there is even a National Windmill Day (11 May). On festive occasions or national holidays windmills are decked out in flowers, garlands, figures of angels or the Dutch flag. For centuries, windmills have helped the Dutch fight water shortages so it is little wonder that they were the first to develop ‘windmill technology.’ In its glorious past, the Netherlands boasted more than 10,000 mills but now the windmills can be counted to a mere 1,000.

As opposed to the popular belief, one does not need to leave Amsterdam to see a molen or windmills. Like most things in a multidimensional city, everything is literally at one’s doorstep or just a short bike ride away. There are in fact 8 windmills at the heart of Amsterdam - but only two are open for visitors. If you want to visit 17th century molen, go for De 1200 Roe on Haarlemmerweg 465, De 1100 Roe on Herman Bonpad 6 or the Riekermolen located along the Amstel River. For a later example of molen artistry, try D’Admiraal on Noordhollandschkanaaldijk 21 or De Bloem on Haarlemmerweg 701, which in fact has been moved form its original location.

De Gooyer or Fuenmolen is the house of Bierbrouwerij ‘t Ij- a brewery that still sells the traditional Dutch Y-lake (Ijmeer) beer. On the first Saturday of the month, one can view the action of the windmill. The two remaining windmills are Molen van Sloten, highly popular with tourists, and de Otter, which is quite possibly Amsterdam’s best-kept secret. Fortunately, one can still visit these windmills today.

Internet Income - Squeezing The Juice Out Of The Web

Think of someone you know who makes money from the internet. If you don’t know anyone personally then think of someone you know of who makes money online. It could be someone in your upline or your favourite guru if you like.

Okay, now that you have a successful internet marketer in mind ask yourself this - how many websites does your role model have? In all probability they will be running a large number of different websites - a number of them will be earning them cash whilst others will be getting their name out, or putting their best products and offerings in the public view and fulfilling a chiefly branding or marketing function.

It’s a fairly consistent model with successful online business types - multiple income streams from multiple websites promoting a variety of different products and services. So why is it that so many inexperienced marketers believe that when they put up their first website they will sit back and get rich on the basis of that single effort? It’s not going to happen is it?

Think about it like making freshly squeezed orange juice. You get up in the morning and go into the kitchen. You want some freshly squeezed orange juice with your toast so you grab an orange, slice it in two and squeeze it out over one of those old fashioned dishes (you could have bought a carton at the nearest grocers but you forgot).

After applying a bit of light pressure you have about half a glass of orange juice and two squeezed out orange halves. It’s a good start but it’s not enough. You want more juice. What do you do?

Well maybe you take your two squeezed out orange halves and repeat the process using them again. Press a little harder, twist a little faster - you might get a little more juice. Not an unreasonable approach - you want to get your money’s worth out of that first orange. But what do you do when that stops working?

You have a lot of choices at this point you know. You could go and get yourself a more efficient squeezer, possibly with hydraulic attachments, laser edged blades, titanium presses and electromagnetic irradiation technology included for maximum juicing efficiency.

Maybe you could phone your friend who first introduced you to juicing way back and get their advice. Better yet - go online and sign up for one of the “Juice Guru’s” downloadable courses - $200 (but think of all that juice).

Or you could just get yourself another orange and repeat your first process again till you have all the juice you need.

Okay - it is a little far fetched, but I’m making a point. We’re all sensible people so we grab the second orange right? It’s obvious - but how many of us are wasting our time on the internet trying to squeeze more juice out of something that’s already given us all that it’s got?

Think about it. You put up the new website and, after a slow start more often than not, things start to pick up and you make a little money. A few tweaks here and there, a little marketing, a few reciprocal links etc. and you now have a site that is bringing you in a decent amount of money each month.

What will you do next? It’s amazing how many marketers will spend large amounts of time and money trying to get more and more out of a site that is already performing well and providing as much income as can reasonably be expected. They increase their advertising budget, they download e-books on how to double their profits, they spend hours submitting to obscure search engines, leaving their sig files on forums and generally beating their head against a brick wall.

So, if you have a site that’s already making money and you want to double your income, then use the skills, experience and contacts that you developed during the production of that first website to produce another one. Pick a related but different area and get going. The experience you gained with the first website means that you’ll find it much easier and faster to double your profits in this manner than to keep trying to squeeze more juice out of your first orange.

In the Aftermath of Mankind

It is life, time for breathing deep, sighs and touching without fingers. Hummingbirds whizzing by my ears, the striking fear of that buzzing sound, so large and loud. Only they can scare me.

Ground squirrels like the cutest babies, curious and bold. Sitting on their tails, eating seeds so fast, my eyes water while trying to behold their skills. Oh my heart loves to be there with them. They like me to see them. They say ” hey mister, I remember you from the cold winter” So frosty then, now the lushness, the verdant, and prolific species of our Mother.

I walk the trails, alone, looking for other signs. Signs of man from a distant time. People who understood the tempo and rythm of her heart. Beating in time with some unknown syncopated clock.

Their arrowhead fragments are like neon signs to me. Some tell me, they have looked for all their lives, with not a sight of one. The smell of the earth tells me where they are. Something different about that place, you know, where they were.

They lived, died, and were reborn right in the same places for countless generations. Why wouldn’t it smell and look different. Yet, somehow they understood the breathing of Her. She coughed, they ran. She cried, they stood under it and consoled Her, all the while, bathing themselves in Her tears. honored citizens of Her kingdom.

Those people counted themselves, fortunate. It was an honor to live and be a part of the Mother, whom they called the Earth.
A priveledge, can you understand this.

If not, then consider this. Today, we walk right by the flowers that were once the life, medicine, and luxury of a long gone civilization. The old ones are gone. They seem to have taken the blessing of the Mother with them.

Animals, seems like someone said that, we have dominion over them. Words written and deduced by a man. We don’t think that way, well, many of us. We agree with the philosophy that we are a part of the Earth. As our fourlegged, and winged Brothers and Sisters exist with us, not for us.

It is there on the prairie of Prophetstown that I can feel those old ways seeping relentlessly into my bones. I am more concerned now that I stand, in the four seasons with the animals. I watch them live and die. Somehow, I live and die with each one of them, daily.

It is now, that, I can see so clearly what many of us have lost through our modern lives. Callous and unobserving, cold and distracted, no wonder I find so many people, who can’t seem to find their way in life. They are out there looking somehow, instinctively, coming to the prairie. They are trying to find a world which has not left us, but, one who is unseen by the many.

I kneel on the Earth, soft, loving and enveloping my soul. Warmth and kindness ooze from Her pores as I pray to my Creator. Humbled by my diminuative being before Him. She holds me in Her loving embrace like the wonderful Mother holds Her child. World, I can not express the great fortune that has befallen me on her Prairie.

The Secret War in the Office - Part One

Large corporations as well as small and midsize companies are desperately looking for new ways to save money. The usual procedure is hiring a consultant to get the processes up to date, and looking for possibilities to reduce the cost, mainly the labor cost. Since almost any company is doing that, there should be a high probability of a successful outlook one would think. Why is it then that so many companies are running into deep trouble despite the measures taken? And why when in trouble these companies are repeating over and over again the same procedures, which in the end didn’t save them? Why would someone expect a different result when repeating the same approach? As Albert Einstein said: “The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results.”

What is wrong in this picture and why almost nobody seems to get it? Could it be that most of the decision makers are not really interested in what represents almost 75% of the value of a company? Or is it that these 75% cannot be found in the balance sheet?

Let’s have a look at an ordinary day in an office environment:

One can feel the tremendous tension between employees and managers. Most managers never seem to be happy and satisfied. And how many managers did ever see a happy and satisfied employee?

Most employees don’t like their bosses. If you listen carefully in the hallways you will hear things like “My boss is always sitting meetings delivering boring speeches about topics he has no clue of!” or “My boss knows it all already! He would never bother and ask us specialists!” or “My boss always comes up with strange ideas without any knowledge behind and expects us to figure out what he meant!”

Most managers experience their employees as lazy and unreliable, only when it comes to the paycheck they are there. All the time they come up with more and more demands. They want more of everything: More money, more recognition, less workload, etc. And they want managers who know each and everything. That’s the typical perspective managers have of their employees.

Only around 15% of the employees are nowadays still motivated, the rest has already retired into inner resignation. Can you imagine the enormous friction taking away and ever increasing amount of energy? There is no communication taking place between managers and employees and together they are making their lives often miserable. Now who pays the bill?

Almost in every company there is this kind of secret war taking place. There is no real difference between the days in the Roman Empire with sovereigns and slaves, and our post-industrial information society with managers and employees or workers. It is still a power game: Who gives has the power and who receives is dependant.

Indeed somebody must lead the company, must be the entrepreneur. But if there is a battle and nobody of the troops shows up, how about that? A change of the current mindset in management is needed: The troops or the employees are the indispensable ingredients to make a company successful, without them nothing goes. Times have changed since the 19th century and our society must develop itself as well.

A Mother’s Day Prayer For A woman Facing Infertility

Copyright 2006 The Lord Word On Healing Publications

Are you a nurse, midwife or doctor who has no child of your own? Are you someone helping others to live a better quality life and yet you have not experienced the joy of motherhood? I bring you good news at this time of mother’s day. Be glad. God can make you a mother too.

The bible says, God: “settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the Lord”? Psalm 113:9. I want us to look at briefly at this story in the bible: The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah: “When you help the Hebrew women in childbirth and observe them on the delivery stool, if it is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.” The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live. Then the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?” The midwives answered Pharaoh, “Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth before the midwives arrive.” So God was kind to the midwives and the people increased and became even more numerous. And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own. Exodus 1:15-22

Pharaoh had commanded the midwives to kill the boys so that the Israelites would not create more generations. Hebrew women were to be carefully monitored to ensure that only baby girls would live but all new born boys would be killed. For his plan to succeed he needed the co-operation of the Hebrew midwives and that was a big problem for him.

Egyptian nurses were not likely to attend to the needs of slave women, even if their religious custom allowed it. So he required the help of the Hebrew midwives.

It was normal for woman of the same race to work as midwives and take mothers through the birth process.

So the Hebrew midwives found themselves in a key position in the attempted ethnic control of their own people. The order of the pharaoh went directly to them.

They were ordered to kill all the boys on the delivery stool before they took their first breath. In fact the order was that they suffocate the baby boys and the delivery not be recorded as a live birth.

Shiphrah and Puah were found to be somewhat unsuccessful at this practice and the Hebrew women continued to give birth to healthy boys and girls.

When the Pharaoh saw that so little changed, he summoned the two midwives to answer to charges. He demanded to know why they had not done what he commanded them to do by letting the Hebrew boys live.

The two midwives were ready for pharaoh. They clearly told him, the “Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth before the midwives arrive.

Infact they gave birth so fast that by the time the midwives arrived the baby was already born and breathing on their own and full of life.

Their plan and insight paid off. They had calculated that the pharaoh would not want to be accused of directly commanding them to murder. So once a baby was alive they would be allowed to let him live.

They had guessed right. Their expertise was not challenged, their explanation was accepted and their job as midwives went on as before.

We are told that God blessed them with families of their own.

I know you have helped many people bring joy and quality into their lives. You may think God has forgotten you but he has not. God put it in my heart to write this article for you today to tell you he loves you and cannot forget you. God says to you: Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! (Isaiah 49:15). He says I will not forget you. See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hand. Your walls are ever before me.

Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood. I will put a song in your mouth and you will sing again O precious daughter. I love you and I care about you.

The God who gave the midwives families of their own will do the same for you today. Now open your mouth and ask him what you want him to do for you. After that you can pray this prayer:

PRAYER

The Father of Love and compassion. I bless you today. I Give thanks to you Lord, for you are good and your love endures forever. You remembered me today. Thank you. When you remembered Hannah, she conceived and bore Samuel. Today that you remembered me I thank you for visiting my womb with a child. No more infertility! No more miscarrage! in my life. I know that you have come to bless me with my own child. For surely, O Lord, you have blessed me with a child. You surround me with your favour as with a shield. I thank you Lord, for you are gracious to me and have made your face shine upon me. God has blessed me and all the ends of the earth will fear him. I will not keep silent. I will tell all what the Lord has done for me. The God who blessed the two midwives with families of their own, I thank you for blessing me too in Jesus name. Amen.

Information in the Next Five Years

Impact of Radio Frequency Identification Technology

The Environment consist of the all elements that are outside the system under consideration, and which it must take as given .The environment also include all the external impositions and constraints other than those imposed by the ownership.

The External environment cannot be ignored otherwise they will cause messy in the information System, in soft engineering mode of enquiry it emphasize a process of enquiry without forgetting external environment factors

The success of an organisation introducing RFID technology into its business depends strongly on a proper analysis of the environment it is operating in, a careful analysis of the environment should be carried out.

Economic impacts

In the retail Industry and manufacturing sector it is difficult to imagine a time when items flowing through a warehouse or distribution center were not automatically sorted using bar code labels. It is possible, however, to imagine how that process could be improved with RFID tags. In this application, RFID tags make a good process better (with the economic impact depending on how “good” the performance of the current bar code system is):

Beyond pure cost reduction, RFID-enabled sorting supports supply chain processes that are currently difficult or impossible with bar code technology. Higher data capacity in RFID tags allows more detailed and flexible sorting. Sophisticated customers sometimes specify detailed palletizing criteria for each order to facilitate cross-docking at their distribution centers. An order encompassing one pallet of facial tissue, another of bathroom tissue, and one of paper towels might require reconfiguration so that the customer receives three pallets, each with a mix of products and each destined for a different store. Data on an RFID tag could include not only to which outbound dock a pallet of towels should be transported, but also how it should be stacked before delivery. It is even conceivable to embed in a pallet tag the destination, contents, and stacking configuration of the pallet for use by the customer. If store conditions change between the time an order is shipped and when it is received, the customer could write different destination information into the pallet tag, or use the stacking information to automatically break and repack the pallet.

Hewlett Packard (HP) was an early adopter of RFID technology and has used the technology to gain supply chain efficiencies. He said that HP began RFID testing in 2002 and has been tagging pallets and cases in response to the Wal-Mart mandate. RFID benefits that have since accrued to HP include the elimination of manual processes for inventory control, decreasing inventory control time, and realization of downstream benefits in areas such as product returns and retirement.

There are also negative impacts, example the issue of Job cuts. If chain stores started to invest in this technology to process purchases, sidelining human check-out operators, then those employees may find themselves out of jobs, and this will have a negative impact towards economy as many people will be unemployed.

Global impact

Now that global standards are emerging in the design and implementation of RFID, businesses that implement RFID will find their products more acceptable globally and supply chain of their products will expand

Social Impacts

Any new technology has social consequences. These are usually seen as side-effects to the actual goals of the technology, and may not be visible for many years after the deployment of the technology. When the social impact of the technology is recognized late in the life-cycle of the technology, it is difficult and costly to make the changes that will mitigate these negative effects. It is therefore preferable to anticipate the social impacts and build safeguards into products early in the development thus saving money and development time.

A primary social concern regarding the use of RFID technology is that of privacy. As RFID tags are added to consumer goods or to items that will be associated with individuals such as identify cards or records, RFID has the potential to allow the tracking of the location and activity of individuals, and the creation of records of this tracking in databases, all without the individual’s knowledge.

The scary part of the use of RFID tag is that products bought with an RFID tag on it could all be traced specifically to the buyer just with the help of the tiny chip inside. Many people are already thinking this could potentially become a “Big Brother” problem.

RFID is not only the harbinger of heavy personal surveillance. It may bring an end to civilisation. The end of supermarket check-outs and their staff may seem ideal for some, but for me it sounds like hell on earth. One of the joys of being a human being with an active mind is the ability to engage others in conversation. An environment which encourages customers to shop quickly and avoid interaction with others further atomises society. We already spend a great deal of our time `entertained’ by television or video games, avoiding contact with the real world. An end to supermarket staff would only increase our hermit-like status, acclimatising us to a world where real people are not important.

Political Impacts

Politics is a factor that should be considered when an organisation is deploying RFID technology. Issue like privacy will definitely lead various governments to formulate policies and legislation could get in the way of a positive use of RFID technology. It will also led to laws like consumer private protection act being amended to cover more privacy issues of consumers

Technical Impact

Technology is essential for competitive advantage, and is a major driver of globalization. RFID technology has many advantages over the traditional ways of tracking and identifying products in a retail environment.
RFID will have a massive impact on the technical side, as the company will need to change the whole infrastructure and capability of their information system will need to be expanded to accommodate RFID transmission data

Impact of RFID on IS Strategy/planning (IT Strategy)

The issues surrounding the hardware implementation of RFID concern the types of tags you are going to use, the environment they are going to be used in and how readers need to be configured. The hardware side concerns number and location of readers, a not inconsiderable investment in some instances. If a store deploys smart shelving, then it will require that short-range readers be deployed to all shelves to be covered. Then they need the infrastructure to transmit data capture to the relevant back-end systems. Such infrastructure could be wired Ethernet or wireless 802.11 to reduce the cabling costs.

To realize the benefits of RFID, IT will need to upgrade its infrastructure in a number of areas, and the interfaces with the business will have to be closer than ever before. There are three areas that will be needed to be addressed: data management, network and end-user device management, and a new category for many IT organizations, sensor management. In addition, tying all these together and integrating them with legacy systems will require a new level of systems integration capabilities.

Data Management

The amount of new data generated from RFID will be enormous. Today’s systems and supporting data infrastructure often focus on the latest status or end state of a product, asset or person. To support RFID, this data model must be expanded to capture additional information around and about events: the state before, during and after each step; the people and assets involved; the conditions at the time; and key measurements and metrics.
IT will need to decide whether to integrate this additional information into the existing corporate data infrastructure or develop a separate management structure. Business-rule definition and data analysis capabilities must be upgraded, as data and events need to be analyzed as close to real time as possible to provide the intelligence and monitoring necessary to make processes more efficient and avoid or quickly correct mistakes and problems.

Depending on the industry and the business operations affected, the IT organization may find itself pushed toward a more decentralized computing and data management infrastructure than it would otherwise have planned. Finally, data security, privacy and storage will pose new challenges due to the volumes and real-time sensitivities involved, particularly with human track-and-trace applications.

Network and End-User Device Management

A great variety of data extracts and information views will need to be made available throughout RFID-impacted operations. As often as not, the end users of this information won’t be at desktop computers, but mobile, requiring deployment of wireless LANs and other remote connections in areas not being addressed today.

In addition, information views will be need to be constructed assuming that a handheld computer, device or even a cell phone will be the recipient’s platform of choice for receiving information and providing updates. These compact platforms will require new thinking in how to process a great deal of data in ways that provide essential information to the user yet doesn’t filter it excessively, in a readily useable format. For location data, geographical information systems can play an important role in graphically depicting large volumes of information in a concise manner.

Sensor Management

IT organizations will need a new set of capabilities and skill sets to manage the proliferation of RFID readers and tags and to understand the processes within which they operate. To effectively provide sensor management, IT needs to ensure that standards are set for tags, readers and how they are deployed.

Different applications may require different standards on dimensions such as system frequency, read range, passive vs. active tag power, accuracy, reliability, placement, polling frequency and environmental conditions.
Maintaining and repairing readers will also be a new capability, and the speed of repair will become an important metric. Also, certain applications will require multiple readers near one another, sometimes resulting in conflicts and troubleshooting delays.

In repair situations, it will be important to have a backup or contingency process in place to ensure uninterrupted operations. IT is the logical entity to take the lead in designing and implementing such processes. IT professionals will need to become much more proficient in business operations then they have been historically. RFID will push IT into many corners of the business where before it may have only been involved peripherally.

Systems Integration

The challenge of tying all the piece parts of RFID together in a smooth and reliable manner will perhaps be the greatest challenge for IT organizations. In many ways, deploying RFID is like deploying a whole new IT infrastructure, with new data sources, processing mechanisms, recipients, network capabilities implemented where none were previously needed and a new category of devices to communicate with and manage.
That doesn’t mean legacy systems won’t be involved. On the contrary, many RFID applications will need sophisticated interfaces and other operations support systems. For example, hospitals will need to interface their RFID systems with legacy hospital information systems, picture-archiving and communications systems, electronic medical record systems and computerized physician order-entry systems.

Perhaps most important, a new level of business-process understanding will be required, and deep operational ties will be needed between IT and the business. IT professionals must fully understand the technology and the business operations to which it will be applied; they no longer have the luxury of being at the periphery of how the business operates.

Potential problems involving RFID (Risk assessment)

Risk is the situation where there are several possible outcomes and the probability of their occurrence is unknown. In deciding on the course of action in strategic management there is an attempt to assess the risk involved, that is the outcome of the alternatives.

All courses of actions carry risks; even doing nothing is a risk.
According to Tim Hannagan in his book of Mastering Strategic Management 2002, he explains the risk analysis checklist which can be used when assessing the risk. The risk analysis checklist will involve the following:

Life cycle- Questions of growth and decline in terms of products and service sectors

Substitutes-To the product and service offerings.

Environment factors-such as changing legal, social and economic pressure

Operational issues-in terms of capital resources, staff competencies and management skills

Critical Success factors-identifying exactly what is required for the success of the organization

Evaluation of the worst -case situations, contingency plans and consequences of strategic decisions

Ethical and pollution issues-and their effect on the organization

Therefore, the following are possible risk to be taken into consideration before deploying the RFID Technology

Risks for privacy-the debate over RFID technology touches upon many controversial policy issues. At its most fundamental, widespread use of RFID tags could enable corporations to track every move consumers make. Corporations which compile the data transmitted by the tags could determine which products a consumer purchases, how often products are used, and even where the product - and by extension the consumer - travels. By aggregating data to form consumer profiles, corporations could make inferential assumptions about a consumer’s income, health, lifestyle, buying habits, and travels. This information could be sold to governments to create dossiers of individual citizens, or simply sold to other corporations for marketing purposes. While the ability of RFID readers to collect data from tags once a consumer has left a store or moved beyond the readers’ range is currently limited, many consumer groups and privacy advocates note that RFID technology is quickly advancing, while measures to protect individual privacy by limiting the amount and type of information corporations can collect about consumers is lacking.

Skills shortage -a lack of qualified RFID integrators has hindered adoption of the technology for many companies. Organisations are already challenged, because many of the skills required for successful RFID implementations are not typically associated with IT staffing. A survey carried out earlier this year by global IT trade association CompTIA of its members found that 80% of companies do not believe there are sufficient numbers of professionals skilled in RFID available for hire. In addition, 53% of companies said this will have a negative impact on the adoption of RFID technology in the next few years.

Network breakdown and software failure- this can be the result of overload (not enough bandwidth), component failure, virus attack, power surge etc. It has the effect of bring down the operation of updating databases with information read from tags. If this happens the company may lose data regarding stock of the products.

Malicious users - There as been many talks about RFID privacy but little is time is devoted to issues like criminal gangs developing devices that could read the contents of RFID tags by just walking past you. Thousands of credit cards information could be obtained in this manner.

To reconcile negative impact of consequences (Conclusion)

There are two general areas where work needs to be done to assure that RFID can be employed without having a negative impact on individual privacy. The first is in the development of the technology itself. With privacy protection as a stated goal, engineering decisions can fulfill that goal. Techniques like encryption, system security, and the ability to easily turn off or “kill” an RFID tag can be made part of the RFID standard. All of these are possible today, but some are considered to be extra features rather than basic capabilities.

The second area is in business practices. Engineering alone cannot solve social problems; ethical practices and education of employees and consumers are effective tools when dealing with the impact of technology on society. Prior to the implementation of any RFID system that may be associated with individuals; a business must study all areas where such an implementation could have an effect on privacy. Relevant laws and statues must be considered, as well as industry or company policies. A statement of principles relating to privacy, the use of RFID, and the use of any databases of consumer information associated with the ID system can both guide industry and provide an opening dialogue with consumers. This work has begun in some areas: the American Association of Publishers has adopted a privacy statement on RFID in coordination with the American Library Association; the Federal Drug Administration’s Compliance Guide for RFID use in pharmaceuticals contains requirements relating to privacy. These early efforts will inform others. The essential message is that now is the time to address the privacy issues related to RFID, before the technology matures, before systems and applications are developed, and before business practices are in place. With early planning and the development of industry-wide best practices, RFID can create efficiencies in the supply chain and gain consumer confidence.

The company should also make sure that they have enough skilled labor in the process of implementing the RFID Project, also software and hardware requirements should be taken into consideration as well as the cost analysis before implementation of RFID.
